chapter 8

For this entry I think the scariest thing is the scene where the pig head is talking to Simon. I think this is the scariest scene because it shows there dissent into insanity and how they are going crazy. I also think that the whole thing about how The Lord of The Flies got there is creepy too. In addition if you really think about it he is talking to a dead pig. Today if i just started talking to a pig head I would be put in a place with white padded walls where people stare at me through a small window. That's just the way the world works. I also think that its creepy that after a little bit all the butterflies go away and a replaced by flies. Also imagine this, a clearing covered in pig innards with flies everywhere and at the center is a pig head on a spike. I also think that it is interesting that Golding choose to corrupt Simon's Happy Place. I think that this foreshadows the corruption of Simon. I think this is also creepy because I think of Simon as one of the better people on the island. I think that it is kind of showing the corruption of good. In sum The lord of the Flies is representing evil and Simon is representing good.

  1. That was a really good way to explain the way Simon was acting. He's just gone plain old nutty. The way you put the part of the book in context with the real world was really good. You should have talked a little bit more about the actual conversation, and not the setting. Do you think you could make it flow better?

  2. good job, i liked how you really talked about how simon was acting and how you realted evrything that happened in the book to the real world. Do you think you can explain a little bit more about what was happening and not about the setting?
